Never Happy

I sometimes read the liberal blogs. As I was scrolling through Americablog today, I found an article about Gay rights. There was an inordinate amount of whining about the their Civil Rights being infringed upon (Prop 8.) I find this quite humorous. I personally disagree with most Conservatives. Because i'm an extreme Libertarian, I believe in true freedom. As long as what you are doing doesn't hurt me or my property...knock yourself out. I have recently gone over the Constitution in great detail and, I can't find one part that says Gay people cannot marry. I really don't care if they do. They are people too, and have just as much a right to misery as the rest of us.

What I find interesting about their incessant whining, is the fact that they were totally on board with stripping the rights of others. They had no problem telling business owners that they could not allow smoking in their establishments. They were super ok with seatbelt laws, helmet laws, trans fat laws, gun laws, and i'm sure a bevy of others that escape me at the moment.

It's a slippery slope...taking the rights of others away. While you may not agree with ones lifestyle, that does not give you the ability to strip them of their rights. Maybe the next time California has another persons rights on the ballot, they might remember how it feels. Or...maybe they will keep stripping rights away. Only time will tell. Anyway, I may disagree with Prop 8...but I can't help thinking that you reap what you sow.
